Best Alternatives to Osprey in 2026 — Cheaper, Better, or Both?

If you’re searching for Osprey alternatives, you’re probably trying to solve one of three problems: Osprey can be pricey, the brand’s lineup may not fit your exact trip style, or you simply want a different feature set for less money. The good news is that there are solid options that trade brand prestige for better value, simpler organization, or more specialized travel utility. In this research-based roundup, we compare two practical alternatives using published specs, owner feedback patterns, and product positioning so you can buy smarter.

Samsonite Andante 2 Wheeled Duffel Bag

Samsonite Andante 2 Wheeled Duffel Bag is the best Osprey alternative if you want a simpler, more budget-friendly rolling duffel for short trips, airport runs, or gear-heavy travel. Compared with many Osprey bags that lean into premium outdoor branding and backpack-first designs, this Samsonite focuses on easy handling, durable wheels, and practical organization at a much lower price point. It’s especially appealing if your priority is wheeled convenience rather than hiking-oriented carry comfort.

At 5.2 lbs with a 22-inch body, it’s light enough to stay manageable while still offering dedicated shoe/wet-item storage and external grab handles. Owner feedback commonly praises rolling stability and the convenience of the push-button handle, while the trade-off versus Osprey is clear: this is a duffel for travel logistics, not a technical pack built for long carries.

Why it compares well to Osprey

If your Osprey search is really about dependable travel utility, the Andante 2 makes a strong case. It gives you reinforced corners, inline skate wheels, and separate end pockets for messy gear—features that matter on road trips, flights, and quick business travel. You also get a very accessible price compared with many Osprey models, which makes it a practical “cheaper but still capable” choice.

• Lightweight 22-inch duffel format is easy to roll and lift
• Inline skate wheels are built for smooth, quiet mobility
• Dedicated end pockets help separate shoes and wet items
• Reinforced corner protection adds durability for travel abuse
• Much cheaper than many Osprey carry solutions

✗ Cons

• Not a backpack-style alternative if you want hiking comfort
• Less premium-feeling than higher-end Osprey travel bags
• Best for short-to-medium trips, not all-purpose adventure use

Gonex Rolling Duffle Bag with Wheels

Gonex Rolling Duffle Bag with Wheels is the better pick if your version of “Osprey alternative” means maximum capacity and rugged trip utility. The 100L size is a major advantage for long trips, camping, or self-driving travel, and the water-repellent 1200D PVC fabric gives it a tougher, more weather-resistant profile than many casual travel bags. It’s not trying to replace an Osprey hiking pack; it’s trying to replace the need for a large, durable gear hauler.

Compared with Osprey’s more refined pack systems, the Gonex is more utilitarian and less polished, but that can be exactly what buyers want. The large U-shaped opening, multiple pockets, compression straps, and side card holder make it easier to organize bulk items, while the large-diameter wheels are designed for varied ground surfaces. It’s the kind of bag that makes sense when volume matters more than backpack comfort.
